Gateway to Health:  13th Annual Conference & Workshops

The Applied Neuroscience Society of Australasia is a membership organization comprised of health professionals who are involved in the promotion of better mental health. ANSA promotes education and professional excellence. Neuroscience technology is advancing to provide new insights into the workings of the brain and powerful neurofeedback applications provide direct modulation of brain states.

Research has shown that neurofeedback contributes to improved outcomes for a wide range of conditions including ADHD, autism, anxiety, depression, PTSD, mild traumatic brain injury, learning difficulties and sleep disturbances amongst others. With regular neurofeedback therapy and practice, significant improvements occur 70 – 80% of the time (Hammond et al, 2011).

ANSA members and other professionals interested in applied neuroscience, are invited to participate in our annual conference to be held in Cairns, gateway to the Great Barrier Reef.   Register NOW at Eventbrite

PROGRAM AVAILABLE HERE FOR DOWNLOAD

Choose from 5 pre- (22nd & 23rd August) and post-conference (26th & 27th August) workshops at beginners to advanced levels of proficiency.  See program for details.

A FREE gift to you from one of our conference workshop and keynote presenters, Dave Siever (donating his fee to Aussie Farmers Appeal). Transcranial DC Stimulation History, Physiology & Clinical Applications

Transcranial DC Stimulation (tDCS) is a neuro-stimulation technique used to enhance brain function by placing electrodes at specific locations on the scalp that represent functions in the brain, and then putting a small electrical current through the brain. There are currently 1200 studies showing tDCS is effective in improving academic performance, problem solving, math skills, musical ability as well as recovery from stroke, including sensori-motor issues and aphasias. TDCS has been successfully used to treat a wide variety of maladies, including depression, anxiety, substance abuse and closed-head injuries.

Workshops by EEG Education & Research - Silver Sponsor ANSA Conference 2019

The goal of our trainings is to produce competent neurofeedback practitioners. Such practitioners are able to integrate their understanding of symptom presentation, brain function and EEG into a coherent neurofeedback treatment strategy, and then monitor and adjust that strategy throughout treatment.

The 4-day Neurofeedback in a Clinical Practice  training course is the first step in that process. It will give clinicians the necessary basic skills and understanding to use neurofeedback equipment in a professional setting, applying eyes open neurofeedback protocols. Courses are offered throughout Australia. Please contact us for current schedule of events.

Telephone: 02 8268 8888 For more information, contact Dr Moshe Perl in Melbourne on Ph: +61 3 9533 0555 or visit the website at http://www.neurotherapy.com.au/index/Courses

QClub is a sub-group of ANSA members who are learning about the recording and analysis of EEG in resting and active states to inform formulation and intervention in clinical contexts. The 2019 QClub Registration is open to all ANSA members and invited guests however you MUST register here.

The 2019 QClub Registration fee is $100 however all registrants will receive access to three pre-recorded QClub Seminars (valued at over $200) to immediately benefit from their investment in this member-group. The initial seminars include a Masterclass on Epileptiform Activity with Nerida Saunders and Jay Gunkelman; and two sessions by Dr Tiff Thompson (Montages & Artifacting).

The QClub 2019 CPD Schedule is a work in progress and may include didactic education, mentoring, case presentations and informal peer consultations.  I need your feedback regarding professional development that will be of interest to you. Please let me know which of the following or other, that applies to you:

[a] I would like to access informal peer consultation regarding my work in QEEG assessment and interpretation'

[b] I would like to access & complete the initial 36-hour didactic training toward QEEG Certification in the future. To learn more about IQCB Certification visit this site.

    [c] I have completed Didactic Training but would like to access mentoring to complete the 10 hours required toward QEEG Certification;

[d ] I have completed the Didactic and Mentoring components but would like help to prepare and sit for the QEEG Certification exam (next scheduled for Friday 23rd August in Cairns).

[e] Other: please describe your needs .......

    Regards

Jay Gunkelman shares his expertise to review a case of Epileptiform Findings in a Young Female. Thanks to Nerida Saunders for sharing the case and to Rustam Yumash for your masterclass initiative. Of course, we could not provide this masterclass without the amazing efforts of our friend and colleague, Jay.

Jay is an icon in the field of EEG and QEEG. His contributions to our understanding of basic EEG analysis, functions of the brain, abnormal processes and the EEG basis of human consciousness have been transmitted to thousands of students and professionals alike.   After so many years of dedication to our field, Jay is preparing to retire so this will be one of his final teaching opportunities and our chance to show him our immense gratitude for sharing his expertise.

All profits from this event are being donated - shared - between the ANSA Student Fund and the GoFundMe campaign (producing a comprehensive Oral History with Jay to track the history and development of EEG analysis).  Please register to receive the YouTube link to view the webinar recording. Thank you for your support.
